How to choose the right battery without starting a fire.

Arduino needs stable, consistent voltage. 9V block batteries are terrible for motor projects (very weak current). The best choice is rechargeable lithium 18650 batteries (3.7V each). But lithium batteries are very sensitive — discharging below 3.0V will damage them, and short-circuiting them can cause an explosion. Use a charge/discharge protection module like TP4056.

Wiring Notes

The TP4056 module has B+ and B- terminals for the battery, and OUT+ and OUT- for your circuit to ensure protection.

Common Mistakes

Connecting lithium batteries in series (to increase voltage) without a cell balancing system (BMS). Charging them this way is very dangerous.
