Why isn't a regular Arduino and DHT11 sensor used in factories?

Factory environments are full of electromagnetic noise from massive motors. This noise disrupts Arduino's weak 5V signals and may cause random board resets. Industrial systems use sensors based on 4–20mA current loops, robust protocols like Modbus, and optically isolated processors to withstand harsh environments continuously for years.

For safety in a semi-industrial environment, always use Optocouplers to isolate the input and output pins of the controller.

Common Mistakes

Relying on regular jumper wires to connect a sensor 5 meters away. Long wires increase resistance and act as an antenna, picking up noise. Shielded cables must be used.
